Living Cancer Free: What Cookware to Use?

Is it just a coincidence or is there something more to the fact that many civilizations around the world that cooked and ate from pure-clay pots were also cancer-free?

The community that I come from is living proof of this fact.  I come from a community in South India and lived there 24 years of my life. And I knew one person that had cancer (she was a tobacco addict—so the connection there was obvious).  And no, it’s not because people there couldn’t diagnose it—India is one place that a pressing health problem — especially one that has such drastic results — cannot go un-diagnosed.  The medical science there has been around for more than 5 thousand years.

I think it’s because by cooking in clay, people were able to eliminate one important way that carcinogens enter into our body.  Keep in mind that the food you eat has the biggest influence on the way your body functions.

What happens when you cook in pots that are reactive?

When you cook in reactive metal pots, metals like cadmium, nickel, lead chromium, zinc from steel, molybdenum, aluminum from aluminum cooking pots and PFOA from coated cookware, inevitably leach into your food.  It is a process where these metals react and chemically bind with your food, with heat acting as a catalyst.  And then get into your body.

These poisonous metal ions can be very disruptive in the body.  First, they accumulate and disrupt functioning in vital organs and glands such as the heart, brain, kidneys, bone, liver, etc. Second, they replace vital nutritional minerals in the cells. For example, enzymes are catalysts for virtually every biochemical reaction in the body. But instead of calcium being present in an enzyme reaction, nickel or chromium may be there in its place. Toxic metals cannot fulfill the same role as the nutritional minerals, so their presence becomes critically disruptive.

Having metals implanted in your body is not the same as eating chemicals & metals being present in your food.  So don’t let people confuse you by saying since the body can take a metal implant it should be able to take metals with the food we eat also.

Is this for Real, Can you test this?

A simple experiment that you can do in your kitchen to test this is to boil a glass of water in any metal pot or pan.  When it comes to a boil, add less than half a teaspoon baking soda to the water. Baking soda is an alkaline substance, high on the ph scale. Most of the foods we eat are alkaline (or that’s how its supposed to be). Once the water comes to a boil, turn the stove off and wait for the water to cool, take a sip of the water. Along with the taste of the baking soda, you will taste a foul metallic taste because of the presence of metals. In comparison, when the same experiment is carried out in a pure-clay, unglazed pot, you will taste only the baking soda.

To take it one step further, add the same amount of baking soda in a glass of water, stir it in and taste. It will have the exact same taste as the water in the MEC clay pot. This proves the inert or non-reactive nature of pure-clay cooking pots.
