Summer Time = Yogurt Time, Learn How to Make the Healthiest Yogurt in 10 Minutes Hands-on Time!

Summer time means it’s time to have your favorite super-food that is cooling, soothing, nutritious, and light – the healthy homemade yogurt. The best part is you can enjoy this delicious food without compromising on your diet – that is if made at home off course. 

We would stress on ‘homemade’ because the store-bought yogurt is anything but healthy – thanks to the additives, sweeteners, artificial flavors and chemical preservatives which may make it taste good and 4-week-old yogurt fresh, but is detrimental to your body. Why eat this nutrition lacking yogurt when it’s so easy to make the healthiest yogurt at home?

  1. Heat the milk to just before boiling point (till small bubbles form on the surface).   2. Add yogurt culture and stir thoroughly (leftovers from the previous batch or you can use some from the organic yogurt from the store but make sure it has live cultures – avoid powdered culture). {…3 minutes hands-on
  3. Set in the oven with the lid on and oven light on. {…2 minutes hands-on
  4. Let it incubate for 6-8 hours and the yogurt is ready! 

The whole process takes less than 10 minutes hands-on time and the longer it stays in a pure clay pot the thicker it becomes. There is no need to add any additive or artificial sweetener so the yogurt remains 100% healthy and nutritious. Once the yogurt is set, you can flavor it with natural flavoring of your choice – sliced strawberries, brown sugar, maple syrup, blueberries or make spicy lassi with a pinch of salt and freshly sliced green chilies.
